A Use and Occupancy Permit is required prior to the sale of residential or commercial properties, or prior to a change of ownership. The purpose of this permit is to verify that the current or proposed use of the property complies with Zoning and Building Codes.
An inspection of your property is required and should be completed 30 days prior to the scheduled settlement/change of ownership to provide time to address any problems. Of particular concern are the condition of curb and sidewalk and the closure of cellar drains. A checklist is available at the Borough Office. There is a fee of $50.00 for residential and $75.00 for commercial properties.
What if I have rental property?
Landlords are required to furnish the names of tenants living in their rental properties. Any changes in tenants are to be reported within ten days after the change in occupancy. Forms are available at the Borough Office or simply call to notify us of the change.
